High West Distillery presents the Old Western taste and tradition to their blend of straightbest-whiskeys-unexpected-places-high-west-fwx rye whiskey, Yippee-Ki-Yay. Recommended to be enjoyed in a glass at room temperature, this old-style whiskey needs to sit idle for a few minutes allowing the bouquet to reach its full potential. Because this whiskey is aged in old wine barrels, you can expect to experience the natural and sweet blend of rye whiskey and aged wine.

The ratio of whiskeys has been left to be top secret but we do know there is a seamless mix of a 2-year-old mashbill of 95% rye and an older rye with a “barely legal” rye mashbill of 53% rye and 37% corn from Barton Distillery. There are 2 barrel types used to age this authentic whiskey, an oak barrel that previously held Vermouth Barrel and another oak barrel that previously held Qupé Syrah.

Tasting notes are as follows:

The nose is expected to be warm with baked spices and sweet cinnamon, dried thyme, desert sage with elusive black berry and cassis. The taste is described as a spiced maple and cinnamon with blackberry and raisin throughout, finished with dark caramel and an all spice complex. The Tasting Panel Magazine gives Yippee-Ki-Yay 93 points!

The back label stories are what makes these High West Distillery bottles so interesting and unique. The back label for this particular bottle comes from a historic poster that can be found in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming. This straight rye whiskey blend is sure to make you say “YIPPEE-KI-YAY” after just one sip.

This High West whiskey can be found at your favorite Payless Liquor store but we recommend reserving a bottle from our Contact page to ensure you get your hands on it!
