Five Sources of Flavor

Woodford Reserve Rye is the third permanent line extension in their lineup following Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select and Double Oaked. They pride themselves on their original and contemporary approach to bourbon and whiskey while focusing on adjusting one of the five sources of flavor. The five sources are: grain recipe, water source, fermentation, distillation, and maturation. For this rye whiskey, the grain was sourced to produce the signature taste in each bottle of Woodford Reserve. The mash bill contained 35% rye which helped produce the spicy notes.

Tasting Notes

Proof: 90.4°

Appearance: Rich honey.

Nose: Spicy with distinct notes of rye, black pepper, cedar and cassia bark sweetened with a dusting of marzipan. Hints of pear, apple and almond dance in its depths.

Taste: Clove, rye, mint, molasses, sorghum and honey mingle together with hints of apple and malt.

Finish: Long and sweetly spiced.
